About me

I work as a psychotherapist in private practice online, and volunteer as a bereavement counsellor at my local hospice in Worcester UK. I qualified as a counsellor in 2007, and as a psychotherapist in 2024. My previous career was in archaeology, overlapping for some years with my counselling work.

As a therapist and as an archaeologist I have always been interested in what is beneath the surface. I am fascinated by the different layers of who we are, how those layers came to be, and how we make sense of them. My commitment is to come into relationship with and process the experiences that have resulted in those layers, in order to live more fully as ourselves. This commitment is as much to myself, through my own therapy and personal development, as it is to my clients.

My journey to where I am now, as a Mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapist, has come via two decades of Tai Chi practice, which led to meditation, which has deepened into Buddhist practice. This in turn, following on after my psychodynamic counselling training, led me to the Karuna Institute in Dartmoor, to train in Mindfulness based Core Process Psychotherapy, starting in 2018. This approach aligns with how I now understand myself and how I relate to others, the world, and my spiritual path. Through this training I also began to understand the significance of our pre- and perinatal experiences, and have taken this further through personal and continuing professional development.

My pronouns are she/her. I welcome cis and trans people, and those who are exploring these areas. I welcome people with any sexual orientation. I welcome people whose heritage and culture are different from mine. I aim to meet you where you are. My intention is to be non-judgemental. And, I am human, and as humans we do hold prejudices, consciously and unconsciously. I hold an intention to make my unconscious prejudices conscious, and I work to understand and reduce my prejudices in order to be as open to others as I can be, personally and professionally. In sessions I welcome your responses if you experience judgement or reaction from me.
